Last Zoom Call

Had our last Zoom meeting with the Peace Corps this morning at 9am MST. It was a little more specific about our role which is heavily geared towards pregnant mothers and youth.

There were a few more questions answered. Obviously, it seems that there are things they may not tell us that will possibly become an issue. They mentioned that banks prefer or require your US currency to be new, crisp without tears or rips, or they may not accept it. Also, having packages sent could incur taxes so probably not a good idea to labels them in detail. A previous PCV received a package from home and was required to pay $400 to get it.

Looks like we actually go to the town of Mantasoa (about 68km East of the capital Antananarivo) for training. WIth just a click or two I discovered the weather we can expect.

Climate and Average Weather Year Round in Mantasoa Madagascar

In Mantasoa, the summers are long, warm, and mostly cloudy; the winters are short, cool, and mostly clear; and it is wet year round. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 48°F to 77°F and is rarely below 44°F or above 82°F.

The best times of year to visit Mantasoa for warm-weather activities are from mid-April to late May and from early September to mid-November.

It is interesting as you look for information on Mantasoa. There is very little "Things to do in Mantasoa". One link has this headline: "0 Best Hotels in Mantasoa".
