Good News

The Peace Corp medical messaged me with a new task (as I used the first link to upload my personal statement) to send the official blood tests results in and gave me until February 7th. Shortly thereafter, I got a call from Dr. Barkdull's office letting me know that the results don't indicate me having thalassemia though my red or white blood count is still slightly down.

I asked for a doctor's note expressing that. When I get the results I'll see how bad the low count is and pass the results on to medical. Hopefully, they don't have issue with the low white/red blood count.

Hopefully, this moves us further and I can go back to thinking all is good to go. I'll relax fully when Madagascar confirms I am medically cleared.

I posted to the Reddit sub on the Peace Corps. It always makes me seem like I am trying too hard to promote myself or be something more than I am. What I really want is for others to learn from my content and see the information I'm trying to share. It goes against my grain to be on any social media as I really don't want to be the center of attention and am happy to let my videos and work be the focus.

Here's the Post:

I created a YouTube channel as I found there was so much missing online that actually told the story of the people served. Right now unfortunately it is about me as I am still just days away from leaving - but that will change as part of my PC service goal is to document the people of Madagascar and the role the Peace Corps plays in serving them.  Madagascar Adventure

As I researched online, I found a lack of information. Many videos are of PCRV relating things to pack, what not to bring, what they don't tell you - but hardly any that tell the story of the lives of the people.

I understand that isn't the main role and many people we serve don't speak English, etc. Still, I think there is a gap in the information as it focuses almost only on the PCV.

I've been a media producer by career and am 63 years of age. I depart the second week of February.

It didn't help that I misspelled Peace Corps as Peace Corp in the Heading!
